Today after visiting Nana, Erica, Riley and I went to see Page, Mike and Bella. They are staying at Page's mom's (Ms. B's) house through Christmas. Bella is great around Riley (full of kisses and snugs), but Riley is still pretty stand-offish. It was a busy day so the visit was cut really short. Hopefully when the girls can spend some more time together Riley will loosen up.
Here's a small video clip.......nothing too spectacular...just hanging out on opposite sides of the coffee table.
Also check out the last 5 posts, if you haven't seen the blog in a while. They are all very new.

Cookie Pics
New Photos
Coookieees
Today Riley, Erica and I are off to Aunt Cori's for cookie baking. This is the 2nd year for the tradition. Mimi and Pop Pop are up from Florida and will be there too.
Tomorrow it's off to Nana and Papaw's in the afternoon. Then in the evening we'll go to church for Christmas eve mass.
We've got a fairly busy schedule through the holidays but Riley doesn't seem to care. Here's a few pictures of her playing around this morning.

Ho Ho Ho
As usual it's been awhile since the last post. It seems like I'm only persuaded to post by holidays, milestones and sometimes amazing Riley feats.
Well it is the holiday season, Riley's 2nd Christmas is kind of a milestone and the other day she did something that I thought was funny and amazing.
The incident that inspired this post happened Sunday night, I think, could of been Monday. Erica, Lola and I were relaxing in the living room while Riley was playing. Out of the blue she climbed on top of the coffee table. It took her a couple tries and we were so impressed we let her do it. After she reached the top she sat down and acted like it was no big deal. None of us could believe it and I thought it was the funniest thing. I guess now that's she's mastered walking and running climbing is her new personal goal. She's been climbing in and out of low chairs for a few weeks now but not on anything as high as the coffee table.
She also put on a sign language display the other night. I want to get it on video and post it soon. I think she knows about 10 different words.

Back Track
I kinda sorta just recently figured out how to post the link to the Kodak Gallery that we have a bunch of albums stored at. So here's a link to an album of photos taken around her 1st birthday. If you haven't noticed we tend to go slightly overboard with the picture taking so there's about 200 photos in this album.
On a side note Riley is becoming very comfortable walking, maybe to comfortable. She currently has a least 3 bumps and bruises on her face from different spills. One "injury" occurred about an hour ago. We were all up stairs playing, and one of Riley's favorite things is to be chased. It's pretty cute she runs from room to room laughing while we say "I'm going to get you, I'm going to get you." I have to admit her walking/ running is impressive it's her aim that needs some work. More than a couple times she's been so excited that she forgets to watch where she's running and smacks right into the door frames. She shakes it off quickly but she's just like Erica and bruises from a strong wind. It's almost comical and if it was anyone else but my beautiful daughter I'd probably double over laughing.

She's a cute one
Here's another small video of Riles.......It's pretty cute. In the beginning you should be able to hear her laughing.

New Photos
Alright here are a ton of new photos. I'm not kidding there are 240 plus photos. View them at your leisure, the link to the photos will always be here on the blog.
They run the gambit too. There are just plain random Riley shots, a visit to the Farm Museum, pumpkin picking at Baughers, visits to grandparent's houses, and towards the end are all the Halloween photos.

Boo!
We couldn't resist posting a Halloween teaser tonight. Our second year of trick-0r-treating at Lakeforest Mall was crowded but fun. Riley got lots of compliments and her photo taken by at least three strangers. I'd say she was a hit, but judge for yourselves. Next year she should be big enough for some real door-to-door trick-or-treating.
Check back in a couple days for a few more short videos and some photos.

14 months already!
Wow, I’m not even sure where to start. Pre-Riley, if 2 months went by I probably would have to scrounge for even remotely interesting things to report to you people. Now, well, I don’t have enough time tonight to come close to sharing everything with you.
Normally in my past posts I’ve tried to list some of Rile’s recent accomplishments but she’s learning things way too quickly now to keep them straight. So here is a little 10 minute recount of when I came home from work today.
I walk up the driveway to hear squeals and Da Da Da Da coming from the kitchen. It's Riley standing at the window with the biggest "Daddy I love you" smile stretched across her face. I wave hello and quickly receive a return wave from her. After a rather noisy greeting at the front door, I grab a drink. Riley is very excited by my drink and definitely wants some so I explain to her that iced tea is for grown-ups. But I’m stopped mid sentence when she repeats "ice tea" crystal clear as soon as I say it. Obviously it’s not as big of a deal to her as it is to me because she’s off to more important things like playing with my keys. The fact that she’s playing with my keys isn’t very special - she loves shaking things and the more noise they make the better - but today she did something I’ve never seen before. She took them and went to the front door and acted as if she was going to unlock it. She even stood on her tip-toes because the knob is still a few inches out of her reach. After that she settles down and I let her know I’m going to go “take a bath”. I’m really going to take a shower but she knows “bath” and does her best to say bath-bath and gives the sign language gesture for it by rubbing her hands around her belly. I get a kick out of watching her do the sign and telling her I’m going to take a bath has become a recent routine. Usually on my way to the bedroom I’ll play peek-a-boo with her for awhile, but today I blew her a kiss and was pleasantly surprised when she immediately blew one right back.
I was hoping to write a little more but it’s getting late and I've been sitting here for about 30 minutes trying to figure out what Riley events are more important. I have so much news it's hard trying to find an order to put everything in to keep it relatively short. So I’ll leave you with some newer pics and a promise of more frequent updates. Hopefully you all will be able to catch up with us to see Riley in live action, but for those of you who can’t check back here as much as you can.
Tomorrow is Halloween and I’ll post some of her costume pictures in a few days along with a pretty funny video short which does a good job of capturing a side of Riley that only a privileged few get to see.

Exciting Month
The month of August was certainly exciting not only for Riley but for the whole family. Riley turned 1 on the 30th and I turned 30 on the 9th. Erica planned at least 2 parties for Riley with Lola's help. We also went to the Filipino picnic and to the state fair. Of course we all had a good time with a couple exceptions, we learned that Riley has an intense hatred or possibly a fear of cone shaped party hats and I could of done with out turning 30.

Daddy was really slacking
Yes I am really slacking, but there's a lot to do around here.
Apparently Riley has decided to do most of her maturing in her 11th month. Here's a list of what she has accomplished.
-(early in the month) started crawling regularly on her hands and knees
-walks while holding onto furniture
-points at everything that interest her
-can wave good bye when you leave
-plays "Pop Goes the Weasel" by raising her hands over her head at the end of the song
-claps when we clap, then clapped on her own, then claps when you ask her to.
-definitely says Ma Ma and Da Da, and in general is much more vocal.
-can identify different people in pictures by pointing at them when you say there name.
-when asked what the following animals say she replies: cow= mummmm, horse= nay (high pitched wining), rooster= can't really describe the sound but tries extremely hard to mimic me.
-gives kisses when she's in the mood (makes the kissing sound until she gets to your face, then she pretty much just licks you)
-I'm sure I'm leaving stuff out but the mother of all her accomplishments this month has been WALKING ON HER OWN.
The walking started with the furniture holding which came almost at the same time as knee/ hand crawling. Occasionally she would let go of stuff and stand on her own. Then when she wasn't thinking she would let go of one piece of furniture and take some unassisted steps to another piece. When we saw her do that Erica and I would sit on the ground and have her walk back and forth between us. At some point she decided I'm a walker and goes everywhere now. She even stands up on her own from a sitting position in the middle of a room with nothing to hold onto. The 11th month was really an eventful one and this month she turns 1 year old.
You have to watch this video with the sound on.
